Apollo Cancer Centres launches its first edition of ‘Winners on Wheels’ Cyclothon

Over 200 people including doctors, medical staff and local cyclist associations participate in the event to create awareness about Sarcoma Cancer and life beyond cancer treatment

This Sarcoma Awareness Month, Apollo Cancer Centres, India’s best cancer hospitals, hosted ‘Winners on Wheels’ cyclothon to spread awareness about Sarcoma cancer. This initiative was aimed to create awareness and encourage positivity about cancer treatment for a better quality of life. To shed light on how a well-treated cancer patient can lead a successful life, people volunteered to participate in the cyclothon as Apollo’s brand ambassador. Regional Cyclothons across 5 cities – Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Chennai are also being conducted to create awareness about Sarcoma Cancer & its symptoms.

The event was flagged off by Mr. P Shivakumar, Managing Director – Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals and Dr. Shanthi Bansal, Director Medical Services, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals. The clinicians, doctors and medical staff were present for the event. Local cyclist associations also participated in the cyclothon along with Sarcoma cancer winners.

Sarcoma is one of the cancers which affects the soft tissues or bone. Bone Sarcomas constitute as the third most common cause of mortality in adolescents. In addition to raising awareness around Sarcoma cancer, the cyclothon also promoted the need for a healthy lifestyle to ensure a future with less cancer risk. The gathering discussed the primary topic of reasoning on the forgotten disease.

There are over 70 kinds of sarcoma based on where cancer crops up. The actual cause of sarcoma is unknown, but generally cancer forms due to mutations in the DNA within the cells, but risk factors include inherited syndromes passed down from parents to children, and exposure to chemicals or viruses. However, if diagnosed on time, sarcoma is preventable, similar to this case, where our patient was detected in the early stages of sarcoma cancer, such that with a primary surgical intervention, we were able to treat the patient successfully.”

EGI had launched Switch 2.0 earlier this month, which is the only product in India that combines pay as you drive and pay how you drive benefits in the country.

IRDAI’s new guidelines permitting general insurance companies to introduce tech-enabled concepts for Motor Own Damage (OD) cover has come as a shot in the arm for the Digital Insurer that has been one of the first in the country to launch usage-based insurance and has been developing this category for over two years, with telematics enabled, app-based products.

Switch Pay-As-You-Driveadd-on cover allows customers to get an attractive discount on their Own Damage (OD) premium depending upon their annual usage in terms of distance covered. Until now, under a regular motor policy, there was no difference in the premium paid by a customer who hardly used the vehicle when compared to a high usage vehicle owner. Edelweiss General Insurance changed this with the introduction of Switch, two years ago. Now, with this add-on feature, this product can be added as a bolt-on to existing motor insurance products. The premium will be charged according to the kilometers travelled by the car. Drive less, Pay less with this add on!

The Pay as you Drive (PAYD) add-on gives customers three slab options of Own Damage cover – up to 5000 km; 5000 to 7500 km; 7500-10000 km annually. Based on their annual usage pattern, customers can opt for the slab that best suits their usage. Depending on the usage declared by the customer, EGI will provide additional savings in the premium. Customers will be able to save upto 25% on their premium with this add-on. In case the annual car usage goes above the slab opted for, then the customer can buy a top-up cover for additional usage.

This product is ideal for customers who work in hybrid or WFH environment, or have company provided transportation, or use public transport for work commute, retired customers, people with multiple cars who use their secondary vehicles sparingly. Customers who have limited use of their cars can have significant saving on their annual premium.

Bihar State Road Development Corporation Ltd. (BSRDC) Appoints Rodic Consultants as PMU for Output and Performance-Based Road Maintenance Contracts

Rodic Consultants Pvt. Ltd. has been appointed by the Bihar State Road Development Corporation (BSRDC) to head the Project Management Unit (PMU) of the Output and Performance-Based Road Maintenance Contract (OPRMC). Rodic has been engaged to provide monitoring and handholding support for 12 State Highways and Major District Roads captured in the contract.

Rodic has immediately set out to introduce reforms in the monitoring processes, including digitizing the workflow mechanism for onboarding and completion of projects, as well as real-time monitoring of road construction, maintenance, monitoring, and financial and contractual administration. The appointment comes on the heels of the BSRDC’s desire to enhance its maintenance and monitoring processes for enhanced road usage and longevity.

The Road Construction Department’s (RCD) Road Maintenance Application was developed by Rodic to serve as the new paradigm for maintenance management. It takes into consideration the three key pillars of digital transformation, which are people, process, and technology. The need to develop an efficient mechanism and paradigm led to a critical analysis of both the existing and proposed processes, in a bid to achieve an efficient system for inspection, compliance, submission, and verification.

It was inaugurated by Mr. Pratyaya Amrit, IAS Additional Chief Secretary, Dr. Sandeep Kumar Pudakalkatti, RCD Secretary and Managing Director of BSRDC Limited also in attendance.

The RCD’s Control and Command Centre was also inaugurated recently by Bihar’s Minister of Road Construction Shri Nitin Nabin. He also launched the RCD-Road Maintenance Mobile and Web Application, providing a comprehensive structure from which the Rodic Team will handhold and monitor all maintenance related data in real time.

The launch was attended by stakeholders across the board, including Mr. Pratyaya Amrit, Dr. Pudakalkatti, Dr. Shailaza Sharma, IAS Additional Secretary along with Chief Engineers, RCD Officials and members of the OPRMC Team. The engagement of Rodic is expected to bring useful deliverables and ensure that construction and maintenance works are effective and efficient.
