Zetwerk Makes Its 4th Acquisition, Acquires U.S.-based Unimacts at a Valuation of $39 Million, To Strengthen Its International Operations

– This announcement comes less than six months after Zetwerk acquired three Indian manufacturing supply chains across aerospace & defense, oil & gas, and railways segments

Zetwerk Manufacturing, the global source of manufacturing across industrial and consumer products, today announced it has acquired Unimacts, a leading manufacturing services company operating within various industries including industrial products, material handling, and renewable energy segments.

Zetwerk’s acquisition of Unimacts will position the company for additional expansion and diversification, providing immediate access to marquee solar and wind-power customers. Additionally, Zetwerk will gain access to the large-scale consolidated demand Unimacts has generated thus far, which will be serviced by the company’s massive global supply base. Similarly, the company will benefit from Unimacts’ notable industry expertise in renewable energy manufacturing and an endless supply of highly specified mechanical products, logistics support, design for manufacturing, inventory management, and near-customer warehousing.

The executive team at Unimacts, including Matthew Arnold, CEO, Andrew Woglom, CFO, and Alan Hays, COO, along with the team at Unimacts, will be joining Zetwerk, bringing the global employee count to 1,900.

For Unimacts, this acquisition will equip the company with the necessary capital to scale up its presence in the U.S., Europe and Mexico, along with access to a strong off-shore footprint in India and Vietnam. Overall, Unimacts’ customer relations, supply partners and business operations will remain unaffected.

“Unimacts’ offerings in the U.S., Europe and Mexico markets complement our existing portfolio and vision of being a global leader in the manufacturing space,” said Amrit Acharya, Co-founder and CEO of Zetwerk. “This acquisition will immediately expand our presence in North America and position Zetwerk for additional expansion in the coming months. We are excited to usher in a new era of intelligent manufacturing for our customers, partners, and our planet.”

“Over the last decade, we have been working to scale our global supply chain and contract manufacturing businesses to better serve customers throughout North America and Western Europe,” said Matthew Arnold, CEO of Unimacts. “Partnering with Zetwerk will allow us to accelerate our growth and global reach and provide more comprehensive solutions to our customers. With the recent $1.2 Trillion infrastructure bill and Inflation Reduction Act, the renewable energy sectors of solar and wind in the US are poised for significant growth. These have been the primary end markets for Unimacts over the last five years and we are excited to pursue significant growth in these markets with our new partners. We strongly believe that joining the Zetwerk family will translate into broader offerings for customers in the U.S. and around the world, increase growth opportunities for employees and facilitate new business opportunities for our suppliers”.

Zetwerk’s 2021-2022 financial results showcased strong growth across categories. The company’s gross merchandise value grew six-fold, to $770 Million from $130 Million, and the operating revenue expanded to $670 Million from $110 Million in 2020-2021. The company is on track to do well over $1 billion of revenue in the current fiscal year.

“With this acquisition and expansion in North America, Zetwerk is well positioned to help even more businesses create self-reliant supply chains in renewable energy and infrastructure,” said Vaibhav Agrawal, Partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners and Zetwerk Board Member. “Gleaned through deep manufacturing and internet experiences, Zetwerk co-founders have built an intelligent platform for customers to maximize manufacturing capacity, reliability and scope at the click of a button. This is why Fortune 500 enterprises are expanding their purchase volumes, securing orders from Zetwerk 3-5 years in advance.”

Zetwerk has more than 2000 customers across North America, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, and a network of more than 10,000 manufacturing partners worldwide.

New computational tools help in better epilepsy surgery results, finds studies by Amrita Hospital

Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological disorders affecting about 60 lakh people in India. In 70 % of these patients, seizures can be controlled with medical treatment. However, 30 % of patients, (approximately 16 lakh patients in India), have drug-resistant epilepsy which is a severe form of epilepsy that does not respond to medical treatment.

Surgery can be used to remove the 'epileptic focus' from where the seizure originates in patients who have not been helped by medical treatment. A major challenge in epilepsy surgery is the accurate identification of this ‘epileptic focus’.

To overcome this challenge, the Centre for Epilepsy at Amrita Hospital, Kochi conducted multiple studies between the years 2015 and 2019 in around 100 difficult-to-treat epilepsy patients. They developed and implemented new computational tools which can accurately identify the epileptic focus.

Said Dr. Siby Gopinath, Clinical Professor, Amrita Advanced Centre for Epilepsy, Amrita Hospital, “in many patients with drug-resistant epilepsy, even high-resolution MRI scans fail to identify the precise brain regions from where the seizure originates. This makes it difficult for these patients to undergo epilepsy surgery. Without having enough treatment options, their quality of life gets diminished, and they become dependent on others due to unpredictable and recurring seizures.”

He further added, “with this novel technology, more patients with epilepsy who previously did not have the option for surgical treatment can now undergo surgery and avail freedom from seizures. Accurate identification of the epileptic focus in the brain will help surgeons to precisely remove the abnormal brain tissues and minimize the risks and side effects of epilepsy surgery.”

These computational tools use brain images from PET and MRI Scans and EEG recordings of the brain.  EEG (electroencephalogram) is the recording of brain waves by placing electrodes on the scalp or surgically placing them inside the brain (stereo EEG). By integrating data from brain images and EEG, computational tools rank the brain regions from the most abnormal to the least to accurately identify the epileptic focus for planning the surgery. Accurate identification of the epileptic focus not only helps to gain better results in epilepsy surgery but also in the implementation of new treatment modalities such as Deep Brain Stimulation or laser ablations performed in difficult to treat epilepsy cases.

Oakridge Bachupally Students are Assisting Less Fortunate Children with their Future Educational Needs

This World Children’s Day, students at Oakridge International School, Bachupally, along with more than 78,000 students from 32 countries across the Nord Anglia family, came together to spread awareness about Children's Rights. As part of the World Children’s Day celebration, which was focused on promoting “Quality education” this year, a weeklong series of events was launched on November 14 at Oakridge Bachupally by Mr. Christopher Short, Managing Director of Nord Anglia India. The activities were focused on UNICEF’s Sustainable Development Goals, SDG-4, to ensure that these students’ voices are heard.

Oakridge students distributed stationery items to underprivileged kids

The senior students of Oakridge Bachupally sponsored the educational needs of an orphanage and donated a full library setup to foster a love of reading in the kids. As the first step toward promoting quality education, these students have pledged to contribute to society positively and deliver high-quality education for students in need. In addition, a health camp has been organized in order to promote wellness and good health for all the support staff.

Inspired by these senior students, even the early years students of Oakridge Bachupally joined to celebrate and promote quality education for all. They took part in a range of events and activities, such as a creative space costume party, CAS event, building a rocket out of recycled materials, and a donation drive with the theme “Make a School for my Friends”.

It’s a time to promote togetherness around the world, awareness of the problems children faces in every corner of the globe and improve the welfare for all children. We, at Oakridge believe in “Starting Early” to consciously grow an environment of “imparting” amongst our givers, caretakers, thinkers, and innovators of the future. I firmly believe, if our eyes see the world, we are conditioned to see then children must see acceptance and compassion frequently because in the words of Frederick Doughlass it is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men,” said Baljeet Oberoi, Principal at Oakridge Bachupally.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Fiona, our CAS coordinator said, “Our young students demonstrated their creativity by building rockets with limited materials available to them and learned about SDG-12 Sustainable consumption and production. The week-long World Children's Day celebrations came to a powerful close on November 18th with student performances, reflections on numerous activities related to Quality education SDG-4, such as a Rocket exhibition, dressing in blue, and conducting a Health and wellness camp for our support staff.”

Being a UNICEF ambassador comes with a lot of responsibility. Working together to create an impact in our society and our school, not only brings so much pride but leaves us with the motivation to do so much more. Over the past week, we witnessed the entire school participate in numerous activities to spread awareness, empower, and really act upon the SDG’s and child rights. It was honestly inspiring! We learned so much through these amazing experiences. We cannot wait to continue our work as UNICEF ambassadors for the rest of the year and to hopefully make a lasting impact on the world!” said UNICEF student ambassador Ms. Neha Kalagudi of grade XI from Oakridge Bachupally.

“I was delighted to be able to join the Oakridge School – Bachupally community as they celebrated Children’s Day this year. As one of the students at their launch assembly said – children are the future and must be part of the solutions for the world’s issues over the coming years. I’m delighted that the school was able to combine their Children’s Day celebrations with the UNICEF World Children’s Day to make a week of activities to showcase the powerful impact that our children and young people have and will have on the global and local communities,” said Christopher Short, Managing Director at Nord Anglia Education India.

Crystal Lagoons Arrives in India with 100 Public Access Lagoons™ and Real Estate Projects

***Innovative multinational company conquers the second most populous country in the world with its public access and residential developments

***Cities including New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Goa, Hosur, Chennai, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad, will get to experience a tropical paradise.

MIAMI, Nov. 28, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Crystal Lagoons has broken its own record, this time, signing its biggest ever contract to bring idyllic beach life to the world's second most populous country, India. The contract includes 100 Public Access Lagoons™ Projects, also called PAL™ developments, and real estate projects for a maximum period of 20 years.

With PAL™ projects inhabitants of coastal and inland cities will enjoy the idyllic beach life.

The deal covers 26 of India's 28 states and was signed with Champions Group, one of India's and Asia's leading conglomerates with businesses interests in the real estate, infrastructure, hospitality, automotive, finance, medical products, technology, media, fashion and lifestyle industries. Hema Malini Nidamanuri, CEO of Champions Group, was named as one of the “Top 50 CEOs” by CEO Magazine.

Through its partnership with Crystal Lagoons, Champions Group seeks to set up a new real estate portfolio, with projects designed for the high-income segment that involve paying a membership fee, something akin to a traditional country club. These projects will then be developed to cover other market segments.

These complexes will provide a source of entertainment in a country that culturally values water activities in cities. In fact, more than 80% of India's population is Hindu, a religion that considers water to be a vital element of life.

With these projects, inhabitants of coastal and inland cities including New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Calcutta, Goa, Hosur, Chennai and Hyderabad will have the opportunity to experience a tropical paradise on their doorstep for the price of an entrance ticket.

The developments will start in the south of the country, which attracts most tourists and has a tropical climate. It will leverage the sustainable aspect of Crystal Lagoons® technology, which can make use of any type of water, consumes 30 times less water than a golf course and only half that of a park of the same size.

The projects include space for hotels, multi-family areas, stores, restaurants, recreational and entertainment activities, commercial and leisure infrastructure around the crystalline waters. The PAL™ developments will be open all year round and are expected to welcome over 500,000 visitors annually, always being mindful to not overcrowd the beaches, maintaining a minimum of 3-4 square meters per person.

“This agreement to develop 100 PAL™ and real estate projects is proof that our turquoise-water lagoons concept works, particularly the public access model. It also demonstrates why PAL™ projects make up 800 of our 1,015 Crystal Lagoons resorts worldwide, at different stages of development,” said Alastair Sinclair, regional director of Crystal Lagoons.

“PAL™ developments provide a safe and inclusive way to enjoy the water and change people's lives in cities. It's the same as what happened 200 years ago, when the first urban parks were created meaning the general public didn't have to travel to a forest on the outskirts of the city to connect with nature. Today, every city in the world has parks and green areas. The same phenomenon is occurring with public access complexes, which integrate the concept of the ocean and the beach into city design,” Sinclair said.
