FINN Partners and Hyderus Unite to Create Major Global Health Communications and Policy Practice Serving Multinational Pharmaceutical, Vaccine, Device and Diagnostic Companies

Move Enables FINN to Address Pressing Health Priorities in Developed and Developing Nations and Expands Hyderus Global Service Capabilities and Client Offerings

Hyderus Co-Founders Mark Chataway and Christopher Nial Join FINN Global Health Leaders Team, Adding Strength to FINN Global Public Health Group

Global independent marketing and communications agency FINN Partners announced today that Hyderus, a leading international, health-focused communications and policy firm, joins FINN. With a network in Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America, Hyderus provides expert guidance on a range of vital health policy issues to leading biopharma companies and non-governmental organizations. Co-founders Mark Chataway and Christopher Nial join FINN and take leadership positions in the Agency's Global Health Practice and will co-lead its EMEA Public Health Group. Both will report to Gil Bashe, Chair Global Health and Purpose.

In their new roles, Chataway and Nial will work closely with Fern Lazar, managing partner and Global Health Practice lead, and Washington, DC-based Richard Hatzfeld, senior partner and Global Public Health lead. Both Chataway and Nial become EMEA Public Health leads in the Global Health Practice, as well as members of the agency's Global Health Practice leadership team, which Lazar facilitates.

Well-known for its global work in public health, health policy strategy, drug development and marketing communications, risk perception and crisis management, Hyderus will now be branded “Hyderus, a FINN Partners Company.” The agency becomes part of the FINN EMEA region, overseen by Chantal Bowman-Boyles, managing partner, who also leads FINN efforts throughout Europe. There are no staff redundancies or client conflicts.

BOTH AGENCIES ARE CHAMPIONS OF GLOBAL PUBLIC HEALTH AND INNOVATION ACCESS

“FINN has been at the forefront of championing health innovation in advanced and emerging economies,” notes Chataway, who becomes a FINN managing partner. “During the past year, Hyderus has worked closely with FINN colleagues in EMEA and Asia on important vaccine access and public health initiatives. We’ve also worked on changes in European health delivery that can impact the lives of millions of people and the prosperity of countries. This announcement feels like a natural next step that formalizes an already strong connection,” he adds.

“From the launch of FINN Partners, we sought to build an agency that would amaze clients, be a best place to work, and make a difference in the world,” reflects Peter Finn, CEO and founding managing partner, FINN Partners. “The efforts of Mark, Christopher, Fern, Richard, Chantal and Gil working in collaboration reaffirm how agency values and the power of a united community translate into delivering extraordinary client outcomes.”

Hyderus strengthens FINN’s Global Health Practice, adding depth and reach to its growing public health communication footprint and increasing FINN total staff to more than 1,400 employees, with more than 275 professionals worldwide dedicated to the health sector. With more than $50 million in revenues, the FINN Global Health Practice is now ranked among the world’s largest independent health practices.

“Through their cutting-edge services, geographic reach and deep expertise in health policy research and global public health communications, Hyderus elevates our health communications strength throughout Europe,” says Chantal Bowman-Boyles, managing partner, FINN EMEA. “The combination of Hyderus pharma and health policy knowledge and FINN’s existing diagnostics, device and digital health expertise enables us to support a broader range of EU and UK clients in the product and provider services sectors.”

“Before uniting with FINN, we worked closely with Aman Gupta and Shivani Gupta, founders of SPAG, which joined FINN last year, and we saw how the agency embraces ideas that make a difference in the world,” adds Nial, a senior partner and co-lead of the EMEA Public Health Group. “Through our work with shared clients, we have seen how FINN embraces collaboration, welcoming our expertise and counsel and truly working in close, equal partnership. Now that we have gotten to know Peter, Gil, Chantal, Fern, Richard and the FINN team, it is clear that our values align and that we can do more together.”

CHATAWAY AND NIAL ADD THEIR POLICY AND PROCESS EXPERTISE TO FINN CLIENTS

A well-known global communicator in the prevention of communicable diseases and better reproductive health, Chataway has led campaigns with numerous companies and international organizations, such as Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance; the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine; and Partnership for Quality Medical Donations. Nial was among the first communication leaders to recognize that project management rigor was crucial for coordinating multi-country, multi-language campaigns across regional and cultural divides. Chataway and Nial are also founding members of Baird’s CMC, a global network of veteran communications consultants, which has the potential to further expand FINN client access to worldwide communications expertise.

“FINN was a pioneer in addressing the challenges patients and product innovators face in navigating the fragmented health ecosystem,” says Fern Lazar, managing partner and Global Health Practice leader. “The COVID-era pinpointed how obstacles to access to care – including vaccine hesitancy, health technology reimbursement challenges, and inadequate treatment programs for non-communicable diseases – impact developing markets. Hyderus and FINN are best positioned to help global health clients support growth within these diverse markets.”

While others talk about improving public health, Hyderus has a decades-long track record of working with global clients to deliver real results that improve lives, notes Richard Hatzfeld, senior partner, FINN Global Public Health lead. “Mark and Chris are trusted advisors who understand how to bring different groups together to address many of the most pressing health challenges of our time.”

OFFERING CLIENTS A PATH TO ADDRESS GLOBAL HEALTH URGENCIES

“As companies and communities continue to navigate constant disruption – driven by the pandemic, health urgencies, socioeconomic and environmental pressures, and new technologies – FINN has been a pioneer in recognizing that the power of collaboration is the essential launching pad for companies and governments to set a positive direction for humanity’s future,” said Gil Bashe, Chair Global Health and Purpose. “Hyderus and their leadership team have extraordinary insight into these geopolitical influences through firsthand connections, qualities that strengthen FINN clients’ ability to adapt to the ever-changing global health environment.”

BOHECO Celebrates its 10-year Anniversary, Launches India’s First Line of Clinically Trialed Products

Bombay Hemp Company (BOHECO) reaffirms its mission to provide hemp-based wellness by introducing clinically tested and research backed medical cannabis products as it completes a decade in the industry

Bombay Hemp Company (BOHECO), India’s foremost industrial hemp and medical cannabis company, recently marked 10 years of providing research-led and innovation backed hemp-based wellness to consumers. On occasion of their 10th year since inception, the brand reaffirmed their commitment towards patients with the launch of a range of next generation, clinically trialed cannabis leaf based products targeted towards various chronic pain and mental health conditions.

The decade-old vertically integrated company works with several farmers and FPOs based out of Bageshwar, Uttarakhand, along with 500+ medical practitioners across Ayurveda and Modern Medicine to harness hemp’s potential and create lasting impact across communities. Today, BOHECO closely works with the medical fraternity who have further recommended BOHECO products to a larger 5000+ strong doctor community. This has also enabled collaborations with institutes such as Tata Memorial Center, Mumbai and National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur for extensive research into the medical applications of, and clinical trials for cannabis leaf based medicines.

The increasing acceptance for cannabis leaf based medicines has certainly highlighted the need for extensive research and clinical trials to understand the extent of its efficacy in supporting symptomatic management of ailments. This laid the foundation for the clinical trials for BOHECO GLIDE+ (for osteoarthritis) and BOHECO PRISTINE (for eczema and psoriasis), in collaboration with the National Institute of Ayurveda.

The trials showcase the efficacy of cannabis in providing relief and alleviating symptomatic pain of these chronic ailments, offering a better quality of life to patients with minimal side effects. The clinical study for arthritis (Osteoarthrosis), conducted among the age group of 30-75 years, was done in line with global assessments and measured on the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index (WOMAC) and Visual Analog Scale (VAS). It revealed that external application of GLIDE+ was efficacious in providing significant improvement in pain relief and joint motility within 4 and 8 weeks of regular usage with no adverse side effects reported. Similarly, the clinical trial for PRISTINE showed marked improvement in EASI (Eczema Area and Severity Index) scores and symptoms of itchiness, dryness and rashes for patients suffering from eczema after regular application of the product.

Over the past decade, we have been able to successfully set up a fledgeling industrial hemp and medical cannabis ecosystem in the country, which can support the healthcare, pharma and agriculture sectors, while positively contributing to the country’s economic and healthcare objectives. The recent success of the cultivation of industrial hemp with legally permissible limits of THC is bolstered by the release of the clinical trial reports for GLIDE+ and PRISTINE. The preliminary results indicate medical cannabis’ immense efficacy in managing both pain and skin conditions. As we further conduct more clinical trials and expand our presence across the country and the globe along with our product portfolio, we thank all our partners, investors and supporters who have stood by us and our vision over the years,” said Chirag Tekchandaney, Co-founder & CEO, Bombay Hemp Company (BOHECO)

Over the last 5 years, BOHECO has witnessed a consistent 25% year-on-year growth in terms of annual revenue, with the pain and mental health (stress) portfolios being the key growth drivers for the company. Its bestseller, GLIDE, indicated for arthritis, has seen a growing acceptability for sustainable health solutions amongst older people across metros. Products for chronic pain (PEACE) and stress & insomnia (SLEEP) have also witnessed a similar increase in sales indicating the growing incidence of pain and mental health related ailments, especially post the pandemic. Herein, cannabis leaf based solutions bridge the gap for the need for holistic solutions to address the same.

Today, BOHECO counts 1 Lac+ consumers and 500+ partners as part of its budding story. “We, as a country, have come full circle with our perceptions towards hemp,” opines Yash Kotak, Co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer, Bombay Hemp Company (BOHECO). “Increasing awareness on how medical cannabis can help with pain management has made the acceptance towards cannabis leaf-based medication more mainstream. Having said that, there are several other medical applications of this wonder plant, which have been forgotten. The overarching objective of our campaign ‘Heal With Hemp’ is to help people understand how medical cannabis can empower patients to holistically manage their ailments,” said Yash Kotak, Co-founder & CMO, Bombay Hemp Company (BOHECO).

Looking ahead, the company plans to refocus on patient centricity through the medical cannabis lens – specifically for pain, mental health and stress. To this end, they have high quality and clinically tested pain management and mental health wellness products in the pipeline that will hit the shelves in the coming quarter. BOHECO is also exporting hemp-based products to several international destinations like South Korea, Malaysia and the Middle East among others, in addition to working with governments to develop policy frameworks towards favourable regulatory pathways for the clinical trials & prescription based distribution of Cannabis based medicines.

Motherhood can be a challenging and rewarding journey, and on Valentine's Day, moms deserve a little extra love and attention for all they do. That's why Mylo, a leading one-stop solution for expecting and new moms, conducted a poll with 3000 mothers across India, to shed light on what they look forward to the most on this special day. Mylo found that a third of the moms would prefer having quality time to themselves to unwind and relax, rather than receiving gifts and surprises from their loved ones this Valentine’s Day. Just as many moms said it is important to spend quality time with their partners, and look forward to special time alone with them.

The poll also revealed almost 20% of moms expect extra time to sleep in, be completely free from household chores and get re-energised on this special day, showcasing their commitment to come back rejuvenated to juggle their multiple responsibilities.

While they want some time for themselves, moms also want to make Valentine’s Day more meaningful with their partners. Whether it's through a special outing, quality time together, or even just a few extra hours of sleep, every little gesture can make a big difference in making a mom feel loved and appreciated,” said Shaveta Gupta, Head, Content & Community, Mylo.

SDG Impact Finance awards USD 200,000 (approx. 1.63 Cr.) grant to Varthana and its Consortium

The grant is to improve access to quality education across selected geographies in South Asia and Africa through impact-linked financing. This initiative would be funded by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO, the Swiss Development Cooperation Agency SDC, the UBS Optimus Foundation, and the Credit Suisse Foundation.

The consortium of Varthana, Kaizenvest, IDP Foundation, and Global Schools Forum, proposes to set up a Global Finance for Education Fund to provide USD 35 million of catalytic and investment capital to financial institutions and intermediaries serving private ECD (Early Childhood Development), LCPS (Low-Cost Private Schools) and skill development providers, across 6 countries in South Asia, Africa, and potentially South America.

The consortium's impact finance design idea was selected alongside six other winners from 76 applications for its potential to make a meaningful difference in the lives of underprivileged children aged between 0-18 years. The final winners were chosen by a team from Convergence and SDG Impact Finance after reviewing impact finance design ideas from the four UN Sustainable Goals: SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).

The consortium's solution is designed to support Low-fee Private Schools to improve learning outcomes and equity in almost 520,000 low-middle-income learners enrolled in schools across the 6 identified countries (India, Pakistan, Kenya, Ghana, Uganda, and Nigeria).

It also aims to accelerate progress toward learning recovery by facilitating access to more and better financial instruments through:

  1. Increasing the amount of debt capital and equity investments available for on-lending to LCPS;
  2. Scaling up and improving the pilot conducted by Varthana of tying financial loans for LCPS to clear rewards for improving access and learning outcomes for girls and marginalized groups, and for improving access to finance for women proprietors or LCPS
