The message gets conveyed in true Bisleri style, without being ‘gyaani’.”

Team of Doctors at Sahyadri Hospital perform ‘Zero contrast angioplasty’ – a boon to kidney patients

PUNE, India, March 31, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Team of doctors at Sahyadri Hospitals led by Consultant Cardiologist Dr. Abhijit Palshikar performed a zero contrast angioplasty recently on a fifty three year old patient who was diagnosed with single vessel disease LAD (left anterior descending coronary artery). The Zero contrast angioplasty is a boon for renal patients where intravascular ultrasound technology is used instead of the normal contrast (dye). The contrast can potentially cause further harm to the already malfunctioning kidneys.

Explaining the case Consultant Cardiologist at Sahyadri Hospitals Dr. Abhijit Palshikar said, “The fifty three year old presented to us with acute chest pain, sweating. Angiography pointed to single vessel disease LAD (left anterior descending coronary artery), which required Angioplasty. But the challenge was that patient was suffering with diabetic nephropathy and therefore at high risk of renal failure if angioplasty was done using the traditional method of contrast.”

Dr. Palshikar added that the technique of zero contrast angioplasty is boon for kidney patients or those at high risk like diabetes with borderline creatinine. Instead of using the contrast used in conventional angioplasty, a small wire is inserted in the vessel; this is called intravascular ultrasound technology which helps visualize arteries from inside. We conducted the angioplasty with this technique and a stent boost. The patient got back to routine in a few days. (Iodinated contrast media are frequently prescribed medications worldwide for both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including peripheral angioplasty procedures and coronary interventions. Iodine-based contrast materials injected into a vein are used to enhance x-ray images and CT images. However, sometimes the dye can cause serious problems in the kidneys known as contrast induced nephropathy. These special dyes can be a risk factor for changes in kidney function).

This kind of a technique can be used in patients with borderline kidney disease, those who have undergone kidney transplant. Such patients may find it challenging to have access to cardiovascular interventions as there is a high risk to kidneys. Dr. Palshikar said, “This technique is used where the cardiovascular intervention is relative simple or of medium risk. Contrast angioplasty is preferred in cases where multiple stenting is required, or where there is full blockage. The other factor is that the cost of intravascular ultrasound technology equipment is a concern. But as more and more doctor use this technique, the confidence in this technique will build up and be of use of renal patients.”

FLYBLADE India Partners with Beta Technologies to Expand its UAM Ecosystem

The partnership further demonstrates FLYBLADE’s commitment to going electric

Today, FlyBlade India (“BLADE India”), a joint venture between Hunch Ventures and Blade Air Mobility, Inc. (NASDAQ: BLDE), and BETA Technologies, Inc. (“BETA”), an electric aerospace company, have announced a strategic partnership, which will see FLYBLADE India explore the purchase of BETA’s electric vertical and take-off landing (eVTOL) aircraft, ALIA, on best effort basis – and in addition to its growing fleet, the build-out of electric charging infrastructure to enable it. The partnership will also explore state-of-the-art pilot training and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services in the country.

This partnership aims to accelerate EV adoption in India – a step on the path to meeting the country’s net-zero by 2070 pledge, as set forth at COP26. BETA’s all-electric, zero operational emissions aircraft will provide a short-hop solution to decongesting the central city and surrounding areas. The company’s multimodal infrastructure will also set a foundation to support the electrification of all transportation – electric aircraft and ground vehicles alike.

“India presents an incredible opportunity for electric aviation and this partnership with BLADE India enables us to deploy our aircraft and charging infrastructure with a great partner,” said Kyle Clark, CEO BETA. “We look forward to partnering with BLADE India to bring a quiet, cost efficient, accessible and zero-emission solution to the region.”

“BLADE is committed to transitioning to electric, this is a step in that direction. ALIA’s longer range capabilities make it the perfect aircraft to cater to our inter-city, health and cargo services,” adds Amit Dutta, MD, BLADE India.

BETA is an electric aerospace company that is developing a fully integrated system to enable electric aviation. At the heart of this system are its all-electric aircraft: the CX300, an electric fixed-wing airplane (eCTOL), and the ALIA-250, an electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. Both aircraft optimize for payload and range while carrying cargo or passengers and offer a unique combination of elements that create a smooth flying experience, quieter than cars on a highway, and imperceptible over normal community noise levels – all while producing zero operational emissions and costing less. The company has also developed electric charging infrastructure to support the transition to electric transportation, and has over 60 charging sites online or in development in the U.S.

In addition to BLADE India, a broad set of top global operators have selected BETA’s aircraft for key aerospace markets, including UPS (cargo), United Therapeutics (organ movements), Air New Zealand (cargo and passenger), Bristow (time-sensitive cargo and passengers), and the U.S. Air Force (defense).

Measure the Impact of Mantras on the Brain with the Sadhana app

NEW DELHI, March 27, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — The Sadhana app will be demonstrating how mantra chanting helps calm the mind and body at an expo at the Pragati Maidan, Delhi, from 27th to 29th March.

Measure the Impact of Mantras on Brain with Sadhana app

“We want to show people that the teachings of the Vedic culture like mantra sadhana is relevant even in today's day and age, and is backed by science,” shares the excited Priyanka Anand, CEO, Vedic Sadhana Foundation, the parent company of the Sadhana app.

In the pilot testing, the brain waves of the demonstrator were tested while they were talking and distracted as opposed to while they were focussed and chanting a mantra of their choice. All this was done in a crowded place. The results were instant and showed that the graph of the brain waves almost instantly went from being erratic to calmer.

This would be the quickest possible experiment ever done to show the potency and power of the ancient mantras. Just a few minutes of chanting of mantras can help gain immediate control over attention and emotions.

Vedic Sadhana Foundation will also be participating in a conference where they would be talking about the importance of technology in connecting people with spirituality. Using 'tech for good' will be the main agenda of the discussion especially for the youth.

“The endeavour of the Vedic Sadhana Foundation is to help the youth to identify with their roots and help them seek the rich Vedic heritage for answers through the Sadhana app than bend towards other stimulants for solutions. We want to address their mental health and reach out with help as much as possible,” shares Priyanka, concerned about the unrest and stressed youth.

Gen Z are the most positive and scientific, and are also more open and accepting of all the generations. But they are curious and have several questions on the puranas and their claims and stories. Vedic Sadhana Foundation is ready and most happy to help them in their search on the path of the Vedic and spiritual journey. Vedic Dharma is the most beautiful and flexible dharma and people need to understand that and see the beauty of it.

At an early age, Priyanka Anand moved overseas and felt she was uprooted from her ties to her culture and heritage. She explains that she went through a very confusing and restless time in the multi-cultural set up. On her spiritual quest for answers, her Guru and mentor Om Swami led the way forward. She hopes to help many of those who have lost their path and detoured from the beautiful Vedic culture to find their path.

The other panellists participating in the discussion will include, Vikram Shastry, CEO, Black Lotus Technologies, Founder, Uttarainfo Institute, Dr. Vani Sud Dhindsa, Director, Vedantu, Ashish Sahani, PhD, Assistant Professor, Biomedical Engineering (BME), IIT Ropar.
