Hitachi Payment Services to acquire Writer Corporation’s Cash Management Business; to become an end-to-end payments and commerce solutions provider

 

 

Hitachi Payment Services, India’s leading integrated payment solutions provider, has entered into an agreement to acquire the Cash Management Business of Writer Corporation, a multi-business enterprise.  

In the Cash Management industry, Writer Safeguard – the Cash Management Business of Writer Corporation, has been providing comprehensive cash services including ATM cash replenishment and retail cash pick-up services to corporate clients in India since 2001. Writer Safeguard has a network of close to 40,000 touchpoints including ATMs and Retail spanning 25 states across 1,500 locations serviced by a workforce of over 10,000 people.

The acquisition will transform Hitachi Payments’ market standing by integrating the cash management business into its overall service offerings, positioning it as a one-stop payments and commerce solutions provider. It will enable Hitachi Payments to provide comprehensive ATM services to financial institutions, while on the merchant side it would complement Hitachi Payments’ digital offerings.  By offering a unified and single platform for all merchant related payment and commerce needs, the acquisition will further strengthen Hitachi Payments’ value proposition to merchants and serve as a catalyst in accelerating digital adoption.

Bank of India announces a START-UP focused branches at 3 Centre across pan India

Bank of India – a major public sector bank with a significant domestic presence – has launched three special start-up centres through dedicated start-up focussed branches. The three start-up centres are located in Bengaluru, Mumbai and New Delhi.

 

The dedicated start-up branches are intended to facilitate the Central Government’s goal of promoting robust innovation and entrepreneurship through the start-up culture in India. Start-Up India is a flagship initiative of the Government of India, intended to drive sustainable economic growth and generate large-scale employment opportunities via start-ups. India is emerging as a hub for Start-up initiatives with more than 93,000 start-up entities already registered with the Department of Promotion of Industry and internal trade (DPIIT) to date.

 

These branches will offer all the necessary banking services to start-ups under one roof, serving as a hub for entrepreneurs in the start-up ecosystem and providing end-to-end financial services. The branches will have a special start-up desk with a Relationship Manager.

 

Bank of India, MD & CEO, Shri Rajneesh Karnatak, inaugurated the start-up desk virtually at two of these start-focussed branches on 24 July 2023 while being physically present to inaugurate the start-up branch at Turbhe, Navi Mumbai.

Policy changes and tech capabilities for existing and new sellers on Flipkart Marketplace include:

This product feature has been made accessible to sellers from different touch points across the seller dashboard to identify appropriate price points to list their products, thereby helping them grow on the platform.
  2. Promotions – This feature enhances transparency by displaying how promotions work and provides detailed information about the benefits and product offers thereby empowering sellers to gain control over their participation, allowing them to make more informed decisions.
  1. Rewards Platform – The new rewards platform significantly enhances the seller’s reward experience by bringing in more clarity around incentives and their eligibility criteria, along with flexibility in meeting them. The new platform also provides for  regular tracking, monitoring and governance of the rewards unlocking higher returns of investment and growth. It also significantly reduces the rewards payout cycle, enabling sellers to utilize the additional operating revenue to expand their businesses.
  1. Fulfillment Support and Speed Initiative – To make order processing easier for sellers, the platform has introduced several features to reduce operating cost for the sellers  and helps them use the right quality of packaging materials. Flipkart has worked on improving delivery speed to customers, enabling sellers to process more orders and effectively utilize their warehousing space resulting in increased capacity, timeliness and better ratings on the platform.
  1. Seller Support Experience Guidance – Sellers will now have access to multimedia content in different languages on their dashboards owing to the Guided assistance’ feature to solve issues they may be facing more effectively and timely. This year, the user interface was revamped with smart logic implemented on FAQ pages with  detailed content to guide sellers making the portal more user-friendly.
  1. Video commerce – To help sellers boost the visibility for their products and  provide customers with better purchase experiences and product recommendations, video commerce has been enabled on the Flipkart platform for all its sellers. This feature has been provided to help them engage with the customers more and showcase their products through various formats such as reels, long-form videos, among others. Flipkart has also launched a dedicated creator app for sellers, which is making it convenient for them to unlock the true potential of video commerce that is gaining prominence in the Indian market.

A slew of industry-first strategic policies and capabilities introduced in two phases last year encouraged over 11 lakh sellers (including Shopsy) to join the platform, with a 220 percent increase in the seller base in 2022 compared to 2021. These capabilities are an extension of Flipkart’s initiatives from the previous year, which included a streamlined onboarding  process, simplified listing, and payment policies. The platform continues to invest in technology,innovation, supply chain, and operations to help MSMEs adopt digital, and these policy changes are consistent with Flipkart’s commitment towards assisting entrepreneurs across the country.

Flipkart also launched its advertising campaign ‘Kuch Khaas Kamao’ recently. The campaign emphasizes how selling on Flipkart doesn’t just enable successful business but also helps sellers earn time, trust and the priceless treasure of work-life balance. The pan-India campaign targets emerging sellers from tier 2 and 3 cities, who strive to achieve business excellence through e-commerce and eventually fulfill their dreams as an entrepreneur.

This Prime Day, ~5 smartphones got sold every second with 70% of the demand coming from Tier 2 & 3 cities; foldable smartphones grew 25x and an overwhelming response from Prime members on the newly launched smartphones (OnePlus Nord 3 5G, Samsung Galaxy M34 5G, Motorola Razr 40 Series, Realme Narzo 60 Series and iQOO Neo 7 Pro 5G). In Fashion and Beauty,Prime members ordered a new pair of shoes every 0.4 second, purchased handbag every 1.6 second and were delighted with great dealsacross top brands, including, Marks & Spencer, Tommy Hilfiger, Ray- Ban, Biba and Levi’s.

Over 90,000 SMB sellers received orders from Prime members across 19,000+ pin codes in India. Over 15,000 SMBs saw their best ever sales during Prime Day 2023. Over 14,000 new SMBs (launched in 2023) got orders, and of these, over 500 SMBs saw their best ever sales day during this Prime Day. Small business focused programs like Launchpad (a program designed to boost small businesses on the marketplace) and Local Shops launched over 800 new products.

Amazon Business witnessed a 56% sales growth (vs Prime Day 2022), including 2x growth in Electronics, 1.7x growth in office furniture and 1.4x growth in kitchen products and appliances.


Morari Bapu Begins Sacred Jyotirlinga Ram Katha Train Yatra with a Grand Flag-off


 

Morari Bapu, the well-known spiritual guru known for his profound narrations of the Ram Katha, has embarked on an extraordinary spiritual odyssey during the revered month of Saavan. The momentous journey, titled the Jyotirlinga Ram Katha Train Yatra, commenced on July 22, 2023, from the hallowed grounds of Kedarnath in Uttarakhand. The grand inauguration of the railway leg of the pilgrimage took place today, July 23, 2023, at 1:30pm from the picturesque railway station in the holy city of Rishikesh. The event was graced by the presence of Uttarakhand Finance Minister Prem Chand Aggarwal and Anita Mamgain (Mayor) Nagar Nigam Rishikesh. Bapu has named this katha as Manas-900.

 

Morari Bapu, with his extensive experience of over 60 years in narrating the Ram Katha, will embark on this exceptional 18-day journey, which will serve as a confluence of Shaivism and Vaishnavism. The yatra will culminate on August 8, 2023, at Bapu's village, Talgajarda, in Gujarat.

 

During this remarkable journey, Morari Bapu will captivate devotees with his enlightening discourses on the Ram Katha at the revered 12 Jyotirlinga temples. Additionally, he will visit 3 sacred Dhams and the Tirupati Balaji temple, enriching the spiritual experience for all participants. Spanning approximately 12,000 kilometers and covering 8 states, this profound journey will embody the essence of Sanatana Dharma, celebrate the glory of Lord Ram's name, and unite India while strengthening its traditions.

 

Morari Bapu's discourses on Ram Katha are deeply rooted in the teachings of Ram Charita Manas. To facilitate this extraordinary journey, two special trains named Kailash Bharat Gaurav and Chitrakoot Bharat Gaurav have been arranged by IRCTC. These specially designed trains will accommodate a total of 1008 devotees.

The train coaches' exteriors are adorned with vibrant vinyl wraps showcasing the 12 Jyotirlinga temples, the major Dhams of Sanatana Dharma, the Tirupati Balaji temple, and scenes from Bapu's village, creating a visually captivating experience.
