CAR-T cell therapies, often known as ‘living drugs’ involve the extraction of a patient’s T-cells (a type of white blood cells whose function is to fight cancer cells) through a process known as Apheresis. These T-cells are then genetically modified by a safe vehicle (viral vector) in a controlled laboratory setting, so that they express modified connectors on their surface called Chimeric Antigen Receptors (CARs). These CARs are specifically designed to recognize a protein which is abnormally expressed on certain cancer cells. They are then multiplied to a desired dose, and infused directly in to the patient.

CAR-T cell therapies have gained global recognition for their unparalleled success in transforming the lives of patients with challenging B-cell malignancies. Having treated over 25,000 patients worldwide, have benefited from this therapeutic model.

Dr Shisir Seth, Senior Consultant – Haematology, ACC, Delhi, said, “The successful treatment of three patients using CAR-T Cell therapy at the commercial level, represents a significant leap forward in our fight against B-cell lymphomas and acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. These cases highlight the efficacy and potential of this transformative therapy in providing new hope for patients facing these challenging conditions.”

Sharing insights into the success of the program, he further added, “Having successfully treated patients with imported drugs, we are now poised to treat them with the indigenously built therapy.”

Dr Amita Mahajan, Senior Consultant – Paediatric Oncology & Haematology, ACC, Delhi  “The successful implementation of CAR-T Cell therapy represents a pivotal moment in the advancement of cancer treatment in India. Treating patients with this revolutionary therapy showcases the potential and efficacy of this transformative approach in addressing challenging B-cell malignancies. This milestone signifies a new chapter in our fight against cancer, offering renewed hope and possibilities to those battling these conditions.

Tata Salt’s mission against counterfeit orange pack salts

Tata Salt, a market leader in India’s salt segment since last 40 years, has initiated the “Har Narangi Pack Tata Namak Nahi Hota” campaign as part of its ongoing efforts to combat the explosion of counterfeit salt products in Uttar Pradesh.

In the salt market of Uttar Pradesh, the rampant existence of counterfeit brands with identical names and colors to Tata Salt poses a significant challenge. Against this backdrop, the “Har Narangi Pack Tata Namak Nahi Hota” mission not only underscores the superior quality of Tata Salt but also highlights the company's unwavering dedication to safeguarding consumers' interests.

Tata Salt's slogan “Har Narangi Pack Tata Namak Nai Hota” serves as a crucial awareness initiative cautioning consumers against counterfeit orange salt packs resembling Tata Salt. Instead, Tata Salt stands as a dependable choice, ensuring the correct iodine content and actively contributing to India's nutritional objectives.

Deepika Bhan, President, Packaged Foods-India, Tata Consumer Products, affirmed, “In a recent lab test of 100 different salts across India, it was proven that Tata salt is higher on purity. Despite the strong preference for Tata Salt among consumers in Uttar Pradesh, the presence of visually similar counterfeit brands with matching names creates confusion and poses a potential threat to their well-being. Through the “Har Narangi Pack Tata Namak Nai Hota” campaign, we aim to not only reassure consumers but also emphasize our commitment to their households' welfare. This initiative is more than a mere pledge; it is a dedicated effort to educate and empower consumers, providing them with the knowledge to differentiate between counterfeit products and the genuine Tata Salt.”

Tata Salt has been associated with educational programs empowering the society. In collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh Police, Tata Salt actively engages in legal actions, including raids, against individuals involved in the production and sale of salt with names and colors resembling Tata Salt. This collaborative effort underscores Tata Salt's unwavering dedication to combating counterfeit products and ensuring the authenticity and integrity of its brand in the market.

Tata Salt urges both consumers and shopkeepers to actively join and endorse the message of 'Har Narangi Pack Tata Namak Nai Hota' in its ongoing campaign against counterfeit salt. By choosing Tata Salt, we collectively contribute to a prosperous and authentic salt market in Uttar Pradesh.
