92% of Delhi NCR uses phones just before bedtime: The Wakefit Great Indian Sleep Scorecard 2024

~The 7th edition of the report, also revealed that 52% of New Delhi and 61% of Gurugram residents wake up tired in the mornings~

Wakefit.co, one of India’s largest D2C sleep and home solutions providers, released the 7th edition of its Great Indian Sleep Scorecard (GISS) 2024. The survey from this year reveals intriguing details on the state of sleep trends and patterns in Delhi NCR. The report's findings revealed that 48% of Delhi NCR’s residents go to bed post 11 pm.  The report also indicated that 95% of Gurugram and 88% of New Delhi’s residents have the habit of using their phones just before bedtime. Further findings from Delhi NCR have been elucidated below.

        Late nights, tired mornings

The report revealed that almost half of Delhi-NCR residents go to bed after 11pm, which is well past the ideal bedtime. Concurrently, 52% of New Delhi and 61% of Gurugram's population also reported not feeling refreshed upon waking up in the morning. Worrying about the future was also one of the reasons that contributed to 29% of New Delhi's late nights. This suggests that late bedtimes, coupled with stress and worry, are significantly impacting the sleep quality and morning alertness of individuals in these cities.

        Social media overdose

The consistent use of digital devices before bedtime causes sleep disturbances in both New Delhi and Gurugram. 88% of New Delhi and 95% of Gurugram reported habitually engaging with their phones just before bedtime. Furthermore, the grip of OTT and social media on bedtime habits is evident, with 57% of New Delhi and 63% of Gurugram reporting that their digital devices keep them up late at night. This indicates that the pervasive use of OTT and social media platforms at night acts as a major barrier to timely and restful sleep.

        Work, worry, and weariness

28% of New Delhi and 33% of Gurugram's workforce reported that their work requires them to stay up late at night. Interestingly, 59% of New Delhi and 56% of Gurugram complained that they feel sleepy during work hours. This suggests that the demands of late-night work and lack of sleep are directly contributing to daytime drowsiness, potentially affecting productivity and overall job performance in these cities.

        Stepping towards healthy sleep

To combat sleep disturbances, residents of 36% of New Delhi and 41% of Gurugram believe that avoiding digital devices before bedtime will help improve their sleep quality. . Additionally, 32% of New Delhi also believe that a better mattress will help them sleep better, while the same number of people in Gurugram believe that a consistent sleep routine will do so. These insights underscore the importance of adopting healthy sleep habits and creating conducive sleep environments to address the sleep challenges faced by residents of these cities.

The Great Indian Sleep Scorecard is an ongoing survey and the 2024 edition received 10,000+ responses, recorded from March 2023 to February 2024. It covers respondents in all Indian cities, across age groups, and various demographics. The company also recently launched The Happy Home Index which was devised to understand the interplay between various aspects that contribute to making a happy and safe abode. Wakefit.co strives to create thought leadership-led content that aims to educate its audience and create meaningful conversations about sleep and home solutions across India.

Vygon Spearheads Neonatal Safety in India with Groundbreaking Nutrisafe2 System

First company in the country to launch the enhanced neonatal feeding system, to tackle NICU tubing misconnections
In an innovative leap forward, Vygon, a frontrunner in the manufacturing and distribution of specialized medical devices, unveiled Nutrisafe2. This cutting-edge enteral feeding system, meticulously designed for neonates, ensures feeding precision and safety in NICU. With its launch, Vygon addresses the critical challenge of tubing misconnections, a prevalent risk in neonatal care that has led to adverse events, including fatalities.

Neonates within healthcare settings receive medication and other therapies through a variety of tubes and catheters. The connectors of these different delivery systems are often compatible and can be connected to each other. Adverse events, and even deaths, have occurred when medicines, liquid feeding formulas or air have been accidentally delivered through the wrong tube. These errors are called tubing misconnections.

Speaking during the launch, Mr. Pavan Choudary, Managing Director of Vygon India, said, “Misconnections in enteral nutrition has been a crucial concern internationally. 40% of all misconnections in neonates are attributed to enteral clinical area, and the consequences are often serious and sometimes fatal. The launch of Nutrisafe2 is another testimony to Vygon’s commitments to designing products that ensure that nothing unexpected harms patients beyond their illness.”

Mr. Deepak Saluja, V.P. Operations of Vygon India said, “We are the first company in India to address this issue and are proud to launch this innovative and patented enteral feeding system. Having demonstrated its effectiveness in over 40 global markets over two decades, Nutrisafe2 is anticipated to make a profound impact in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) across India.”

The device’s launch comes in response to this critical healthcare issue, underscored by a 2014 Sentinel Event Alert from The Joint Commission. The alert shed light on the severe consequences of tubing misconnections, including enteral feeding solutions mistakenly introduced into IV lines, leading to several reported fatalities. Nutrisafe2 emerges as an effective safeguard against such risks, engineered specially for neonates to ensure safety in neonatal enteral feeding.

With Vygon’s global leadership in neonatology and robust presence in India, Nutrisafe2 is set to redefine standards of care in neonatal units across the country.

OYO blacklists hotel following allegations of flesh trade

·         OYO permanently terminates the contract with Hotel Resort Stay Inn in Nagpur after allegations of immoral activities in its premises

·         It is planning legal action against the hotel and individuals allegedly involved in immoral activities

·         The decision came after thorough review of facts and circumstances

·         This aligns with OYO’s ongoing program to promote safe and secure hospitality

Global hospitality technology platform OYO has permanently blacklisted and terminated its contract with Hotel Resort Stay Inn in Nagpur following allegations of flesh trade. It is also planning to pursue legal action against the hotel and individuals involved to ensure accountability. Police have arrested six people including the hotelier, and a case has been registered against them under relevant sections of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act.

The allegations prompted OYO to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. After careful review and consideration, OYO found out that the hotel had unilaterally ceased its business association with OYO before the allegations came to light. However, OYO has decided to blacklist the hotel. This decision aligns with OYO’s ongoing program to promote safe and secure hospitality.

OYO expressed its appreciation to those who brought the allegations to light. The company encouraged anyone with information regarding similar incidents to come forward, assuring them that their concerns would be addressed promptly and professionally.

Commenting on the development, Ritesh Agarwal, Founder and CEO, OYO said “OYO has a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of illegal or immoral activities on its hotel premises. We are implementing enhanced monitoring and auditing procedures to prevent such incidents in the future. We remain committed to working closely with law enforcement agencies and local communities to create a safe environment for our guests”.

OYO launched a national program in November 2023 to promote safe and secure hospitality in partnership with law enforcement agencies. As part of the initiative, it has conducted joint seminars with police in several cities such as Noida, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Meerut and Bangalore, which brought together key stakeholders from the hospitality industry, law enforcement agencies, and OYO's hotel partners. The discussions focused on various aspects of safety and security, including best practices for ensuring guest safety, handling emergency situations, and collaborating with local authorities.

OYO has a robust safety and security system to ensure that hotels listed on its platform must comply with the safety related laws and guidelines issued by the local law enforcement agencies. It also provides regular safety and security related training to its hotel partners and their employees to watch out for red flags such as guest behavior and unusual check-in patterns and take preventive actions.

Combining Falcon platform data with NVIDIA’s GPU-optimized AI pipelines and software, including new NVIDIA NIM microservices, puts custom and secure generative AI model creation in the hands of CrowdStrike and NVIDIA customers.

According to the 2024 CrowdStrike Global Threat Report, the average breakout time is now down to 62 minutes, with the fastest recorded attack being just over two minutes. As modern attacks grow faster and more sophisticated, organizations need AI-powered security to gain the organizational speed and automation required to stay protected and stop breaches.

“Since our founding, CrowdStrike has pioneered the use of AI in cybersecurity. Our customers from all verticals, segments, and geographies are increasing adoption of AI/ML across their businesses, looking to generative AI for efficiency, speed, and innovation,” said George Kurtz, co-founder and CEO at CrowdStrike. “Our collaboration with NVIDIA combines the power of two innovative industry leaders to not only help customers meet and exceed necessary security requirements but also increase adoption of AI technologies for business acceleration and value creation.”

“Cybersecurity is inherently a data problem — the more data that enterprises can process, the more events they can detect and address,” said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA. “Pairing NVIDIA accelerated computing and generative AI with CrowdStrike cybersecurity can give enterprises unprecedented visibility into threats to help them better protect their businesses.”

CrowdStrike creates the richest and highest fidelity security telemetry, on the order of petabytes daily, from the AI-native Falcon platform. CrowdStrike will leverage NVIDIA accelerated computing, NVIDIA Morpheus and NVIDIA NIM microservices to bring custom LLM-powered applications to the enterprise. Paired with the Falcon platform’s unique contextual data, customers will be able to solve novel, domain-specific use cases, including AI-powered applications that can process petabytes of logs to improve threat hunting, detect supply chain attacks, identify anomalies in user behavior, and proactively defend against emerging exploits and vulnerabilities. Customers can benefit from having the best underlying security data to operationalize their selection of AI architectures with confidence, quickly turning all enterprise data into powerful insights and actions to drive performance and cost optimizations.
