Adani Foundation at ACC Gagal boosts agricultural produce for rural farmers in Himachal Pradesh

·         ACC, the Adani Foundation partner with NABARD to construct 645 metres of irrigation channels in Kanoun and Ropa villages.

·         This initiative introduces concrete ‘kuhl’ systems that has led to improved water management and increased agricultural productivity.

·         The project ensures timely supply, benefiting 31 farmers across 3.75 hectares boosting crop yields and income of farmers.

ACC, the cement and building materials company of the diversified Adani Portfolio, is proud to facilitate modern water management solutions to benefit farming communities where it operates. The Company, along with the Adani Foundation, has partnered with NABARD to spearhead the Dhounkothi Panjgain Watershed Development Project (DPWDP) to construct 645 metres of irrigation channels in Kanoun and Ropa villages near its ACC Gagal plant. This significant development, completed during this year, marks a transformative step towards enhancing agricultural productivity and water management in the region.

Previously, farmers in these villages relied on traditional gravity-based makeshift field channels to distribute water from natural water sources. This method led to substantial water wastage through percolation and seepage, often leaving the tail-end fields dry, especially during summer months. This led to farmers waiting for days to access water, resulting in lower crop yields.

To address these challenges, the DPWDP implemented the construction of permanent irrigation channels with varied carrying capacities to suit different locations. Key components of the project include the main channel, field channels, check dams, water drop structures, and footpath crossings. Remarkably, the project does not involve any energy usage.

The newly constructed concrete ‘kuhl’ in Kanoun village, serving a command area of 3.75 hectares, has revolutionised water distribution by significantly reducing water losses and ensuring timely irrigation during the growing season. The farming community here has expressed immense satisfaction, noting improved water availability and time saving. Millets have been introduced in previously uncultivated areas, vacant land converted into productive cropped land, and vegetable cultivation has expanded. The project has benefited 31 farmers, covering 3.75 hectares and the projected yield as well as income for the 2024 Kharif season indicates a promising increase.

ACC, and the Adani Foundation, are committed to fostering sustainable development and inclusive growth amongst farming communities across the nation, through modern irrigation and water management techniques.

Telangana Health Minister Sri Damodar Rajanarasimha Inaugurates Euderm Skin and Hair Clinic in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad

The public and private sectors both play a crucial role in providing healthcare services to the people, said State Minister for Medical and Health, Damodar Raja Narasimha. He emphasized that the private sector, in particular, should deliver medical services more responsibly. The minister made these remarks while inaugurating the second branch of Euderm Hair and Skin Clinic in Filmnagar, Jubilee Hills, on Sunday. He noted that recently, individuals of all ages, from children to adults, have been experiencing issues like hair loss and other skin-related problems. Therefore, it is a matter of great satisfaction that Euderm Hair and Skin Clinic has been established in this area to provide comprehensive medical services for all these issues under one roof. He encouraged young doctors like Dr. Srushanth to continue offering their services to the public by adopting advanced methods in this field and wished them success in their endeavors.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Srushanth Mukka said, “We have already been operating a hospital in Kokapet, and now we have established this new facility in Jubilee Hills to serve the city residents in a spacious environment. Here, we have specialists for all kinds of skin, body, and hair issues, including female doctors, cosmetologists, and dermatologists. Therefore, we provide treatments for everything, from common skin infections to severe issues like psoriasis, as well as for serious problems like hair loss and baldness. We also offer cosmetic treatments. Additionally, we have the facilities to effectively treat problems and infections related to private parts of the body.

Previously, issues like hair loss, baldness, and thinning used to occur after the age of 50-60. However, now these problems are being seen even in the 18-20 age group. As a result, many young people are so troubled that they are even avoiding attending college. We are helping such individuals by offering treatments like hair transplantation, restoring their confidence, and encouraging them to return to college. Our hospital provides treatment for everything from pediatric dermatology—addressing skin issues in children as young as ten—to geriatric problems related to aging skin and other conditions, with world-class equipment. Our specialty lies in offering personalized treatments for every individual.

There are many types of skin problems. Conditions like dengue and chikungunya also bring about certain skin issues. Housewives who work in wet conditions daily often develop fungal infections on their feet. These problems should not be neglected and should be treated by consulting dermatologists as needed. When it comes to acne, instead of using random creams, proper treatment should be sought,” he added.
