As part of this event, young Para-athletes were invited to witness and engage in meaningful conversations with the Paralympic heroes. Neelendra Singh, GM, adidas India, also led an engaging session where the athletes shared their personal journeys, challenges, and successes from the Paris Paralympics 2024.  Further, showcasing adidas’ efforts to empower athletes through world-class training support and gear, inspiring a new generation of sportspeople to believe in their potential.

Key highlights of the investments include a significant capacity expansion of the large power transformers factory, upgraded testing capabilities for specialty transformers at the small power transformers and the relocation of the bushings factory, all crucial to further develop the country’s transmission projects to meet increasing energy demands. The capacity of the traction transformers factory will also be boosted to support the modernization of the Indian railway network. This investment will bolster the manufacturing capacity of Hitachi Energy India's production facilities.

 

Additionally, plans are underway to expand the network control solutions offering and develop and manufacture localized Grid eXpand and Grid eMotion. The company will also introduce its maiden medium voltage offering- REF650—to the Indian market. Furthermore, concerted efforts will be made to nurture the supplier base in India for India and the world.

 

Energy and Digital World 75 (EDW75): EDW75, commemorating 75 years of Hitachi Energy's presence in India, is being held on Oct. 7 and 8, 2024 in New Delhi with the participation of over 2000 policymakers, regulators, diplomats, customers, suppliers, academia and think tanks. Over 50 global and Indian industry experts will share their views through multiple technology sessions on new energy integration, strengthening sustainable electrification, and creating smart infrastructure.

Survivors Turn Models in a Powerful Walk to Raise Breast Cancer Awareness at Apollo Cancer Centre

Apollo Cancer Centres hosted an inspiring and vibrant fashion walk in collaboration with Mydream TV USA, capturing the essence of hope and resilience in the fight against breast cancer. The event, held at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi, was a breast cancer awareness initiative to bring together cancer survivors, advocates, and supporters, all strutting the runway with purpose and flair.

 

This event was driven by a shared commitment to advance early detection and foster a supportive environment for breast cancer survivors. Attendees gained insights into advanced breast cancer screening, including new and sensitive tests designed to improve early detection rates, which is crucial as breast cancer prevalence is on the rise in India.

 

There is a concerning trend in India, where the incidence of breast cancer among young women is on the rise, accounting for 10-20% of all breast cancer cases. The most common age group presented is between 35 to 40 years This increase calls for the imperative need for early detection and screening, as breast cancer in younger women often presents with more aggressive characteristics and at advanced stages, leading to modest outcomes. Ambuja becomes the world’s first cement company to join the Alliance for Industry Decarbonization


  

Ambuja Cements Limited, part of the diversified Adani Portfolio, has joined the Alliance for Industry Decarbonization (AFID)—a global alliance of companies across industries to accelerate Net Zero transition in line with the Paris Agreement. Ambuja is the first cement manufacturer in the world to become a part of AFID, a global platform for exchanging insights and experiences among private and public stakeholders in the energy-intensive sectors.

 

The company, operating in the hard-to-abate cement industry, aims to achieve Net Zero by 2050, with targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). As part of its green energy commitment, it has announced a plan to invest INR 100 billion in renewable energy projects of 1GW capacity and 376 MW of energy from Waste Heat Recovery System (WHRS), to power 60% of its expanded capacity through green power by FY2028. This ambitious goal will reduce the carbon footprint and offer compelling economic advantages. Ambuja Cements utilized over 8.6 million tonnes of waste-derived resources and became 11x water-positive and 8x plastic-negative in FY’24.

We are already amongst the lowest emission intensity cement producers globally and are undertaking a number of strategic initiatives to further reduce our GHG emission footprint. The AFID aims to facilitate dialogue on an industry level and increase cooperation to help companies develop solid decarbonization strategies aligned with their countries’ commitments. The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) coordinates and facilitates the activities of the alliance.
