Monsoon Alert: Fever Season Strikes Again
* Avoid self-medication
* Day-care services now accessible for patients
Continuous heavy rains over the past few days/weeks have led to a sharp rise in fever cases across the twin cities. Along with common viral fevers, cases of malaria, dengue, typhoid, and chikungunya are also being reported. Experts warn that rushing to the
pharmacy and using over-the-counter medications without medical advice can often be ineffective and, at times, dangerous.
To address the seasonal spike in fever-related illnesses, Aster Prime Hospital—one of the city’s leading healthcare institutions—has launched a dedicated 24/7 Fever Clinic complimented with Day-Care Services at its premises in Ameerpet. The clinic was inaugurated on Thursday by SR Nagar Division Asst. Commissioner of Police Sri S.V Raghavendra Rao and Inspector Sri T. Srinath Reddy, who stated that such specialized clinics are crucial during monsoon as fevers tend to spread rapidly. He urged people to consult doctors promptly and seek proper medical care before condition worsen.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Harikumar Reddy, Cluster CEO of Aster DM Healthcare, said, “Many students and young professionals who live far from home often don't know how to respond when they fall ill. This Fever Clinic has been set up to provide quality and affordable treatment to such individuals. The clinic is equipped with expert doctors, comprehensive diagnostic facilities operate
round-the-clock.”
The facility includes on-site blood bank and NABL accredited lab services, enabling complete and timely care. Dr. Reddy added, “Currently, we’re seeing a surge in cases of malaria, typhoid, dengue, chikungunya, vomiting, and diarrhoea. Our focus is on patient-centric approach at affordable prices. Selected patients can receive treatment for up to 12 hours under our newly inaugurated dedicated day care ward conveniently. We advise people to minimize travel during this time and maintain good hygiene—wash hands before eating or drinking, wear masks in crowded places, use mosquito screens, and avoid water stagnation to prevent mosquito breeding.”
If symptoms like high fever, body aches, vomiting, fatigue, cough, cold, or sore throat persist, it is advised to seek immediate care at the Fever Clinic. Treatment is available for all major monsoon-related illnesses such as dengue, malaria, chikungunya (mosquito-borne), typhoid, cholera, diarrhoea (waterborne), cold, flu, and viral fevers.
